The Mexican Rebozo (shawl) is as much a part of life for the
Mexican "indigeous" woman as "maiz" is
to tortillas. It is used for warmth, as a baby carrier, a
backpack, to hide from the sun... and a thousand other uses.
These elegant, oversized, authentic, flowing cotton and silk
rebozos are representative of the rebozo style of the state
of Michoacan. They are hand-loomed on a backstrap loom, and
hand-fringed by the family of Julia Ramirez, a nationally
recognized rebozo Grand Mistress. Learn more about
this amazing woman and her art form.
