Jose Luis Cerda Baez, featured in the “Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art”, is famous for his hand-carved, designs inspired by utilitarian objects used daily by the Purepecha people. He uses a highly refined wood carving technique from Paracho, Michoacan taught to him by his father when he was in his early 20s. In this gallery, we showcase the design for which he is most famous, the Cucharero (spoon holder). The Jose Luis Baez' Cuchareros have been in his family for over 100 years.
